Amazon image requirements at a glance

Why 2000 × 2000 pixels
Zoom switches on at 1000 pixels, but on high-density phone screens a 1000 px image looks soft when shoppers pinch in. A 2000 px square gives sharp zoom and stays small enough to upload quickly. For jewelry, electronics and fabrics where fine detail sells, use the 2500 px preset.
How the 85% fill works
The tool removes near-white space around the product, then scales it inside the margin you set. At the default 7% margin the product fills about 86% of the longest side. Lower the margin to make it larger, but keep some space so the product is not cut off.
When the background is not white
Padding with white only works when the photo was shot on white or a plain light background. If the product sits on a table, a colored backdrop or in a room, make a pure white background first with the AI White Background Product Photo tool, then resize here. What size should Amazon product images be?
At least 1000 px on the longest side for zoom. A 2000 × 2000 px square is the most common choice and is what this tool uses by default.
Do Amazon images have to be square?
Square is recommended for the main image because it fills the search result tile. Other ratios are accepted, but they are shown with white space around them.
What is the maximum file size?
10 MB per image. A 2000 px JPG from this tool is usually well under 1 MB.
Does this make my background pure white?
It pads the canvas with pure white and trims plain borders. It cannot remove a colored or busy background; use the AI White Background Product Photo tool for that.
