Amazon Main Image Checker
Find out before you upload whether your main image meets Amazon's image requirements: a pure white background, the product filling 85% of the frame, the right size, and no extra text, badges or objects on that white background.
A main image that breaks the rules can be suppressed, which hides the listing from search. Problems like an off-white background or a product that is too small are hard to see by eye. This checker reads the actual pixel values in your browser and tells you what passes, what to review and what to fix.
- Pure white background measured at RGB 255, not by eye
- Product fill against the 85% rule
- Text, badges and extra objects on the white background, with a fix for each failure
- Apparel and shoe checks, plus a variant match across the batch
- Runs locally; images never leave your device
Drop your main image

Each failed check says what to change. A batch also reports whether the images match as variants.
Fix and check again
Use the free resizer for size and fill, or AI for a white background.
The checks
- Size — the longest side must be at least 1000 px for zoom; 2000 px or more is recommended; 10,000 px is the maximum
- Shape — square is recommended for the main image
- Format — JPEG is preferred; PNG, TIFF and GIF are accepted
- File size — 10 MB or less
- Background — the border of the image is tested for exact RGB 255, 255, 255, and transparency is flagged
- Product fill — the product's longest side compared with the frame, against the 85% rule
- Edges — a warning if the product touches the edge and may be cropped
- Text & marks — text, badges and extra objects on the white background. Lettering printed on the product is not flagged
- Search tile — a small white square so you can see the image the way search shows it
- Listing set — lifestyle, size, detail and a product video. The checklist is free. Open starts an AI tool, which uses credits
- Variants — with two or more images, fill, placement, shape and background are compared
- Category — Standard uses the 85% fill. Apparel allows a full-body shot and asks you to confirm it is not a mannequin. Shoes flag a pair sitting side by side
Why off-white fails
A background of RGB 250, 250, 250 looks white on most screens, but it is not pure white. Studio photos often come out light gray or warm, and phone cameras add their own tint. The checker shows the average border color so you can see how far off it is.
What it cannot check
Lettering printed on the product, a watermark that sits only on the product, and whether the photo shows the real item still need a person. Apparel mode cannot tell a mannequin from a model. Confirm the current category rules in Seller Central.
Fixing a failed image
If size, shape or fill fails, the free Amazon Image Resizer pads the photo to a 2000 px white square with about 86% fill. If the background fails, the AI White Background Product Photo tool puts the product on pure white while keeping it unchanged. Run the checker again afterwards.
How do I know if my background is pure white?
Drop the image into the checker. It measures how much of the border is exactly RGB 255, 255, 255 and shows the average color if it is off-white.
How is the 85% fill measured?
The checker finds the edges of the product against the white background and compares the product's longest side with the size of the image.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Every check runs in your browser and nothing is sent to a server.
Does passing guarantee Amazon will accept the image?
No. The checker measures the file and flags text, badges and extra objects on the white background. It cannot tell whether the photo is the real product, and some categories have extra rules.
Is the checker affiliated with Amazon?
No. MiniMaxVion is an independent studio. Amazon and Seller Central are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc.
