Why 1600 pixels

Below about 1600 px on the longest side, buyers cannot zoom in on the photo. Going much larger adds upload time without a visible benefit. A 1600 px square is the sweet spot for most items.

White backgrounds without borders

eBay does not allow borders around listing photos. Padding a photo with pure white is not a border as long as the background is white too, so items shot on white blend seamlessly into the new canvas. For items shot on a busy background, make a white background first with AI.

Selling on several marketplaces

If you list the same item on eBay and Amazon, the Amazon preset exports 2000 × 2000 px, which also works on eBay. Use one master photo and export each size from it.
