Instagram Image Resizer

Resize photos to every Instagram size: 4:5 portrait for the feed, 3:4 to fill the profile grid, square, and 9:16 for Stories and Reels. Fit with a margin or fill and crop. Free, with no upload.

Instagram crops anything that does not match its ratios, often cutting off the product or a face. Resize first and you decide what stays in the frame. Use Fit with margin for product shots and Fill and crop for photos where the edges can go.

  1. Drop your photos

Add up to 20 images at once.

  2. Pick a format

Feed 4:5, grid 3:4, square or Story 9:16.

  3. Download and post

Post from the app or your scheduler.

Instagram image sizes

  • Feed portrait — 1080 × 1350 px (4:5), the safe default that takes the most space in the feed
  • Grid portrait — 1080 × 1440 px (3:4), matches the profile grid tiles introduced in 2025
  • Square — 1080 × 1080 px (1:1)
  • Stories and Reels — 1080 × 1920 px (9:16)

4:5 or 3:4?

The profile grid now shows posts as 3:4 tiles, so a 4:5 post loses a thin strip on each side in the grid, while a 3:4 post fills the tile. Posting from the app, 3:4 works well. Many scheduling tools publish through Instagram's API, which accepts ratios from 4:5 to 1.91:1, so use 4:5 when a scheduler posts for you. Either way, keep important details away from the left and right edges.

Carousels

Every slide in a carousel uses the ratio of the first slide. Resize the whole set to the same preset in one batch so nothing is cropped unexpectedly.

Stories and Reels

The top and bottom of a 9:16 frame are covered by the profile name, captions and buttons. Fit with margin keeps a product photo inside the safe middle area, padded with white or a brand color. For motion, turn a still into a short vertical clip with Image to Video.

What is the best Instagram post size?

1080 × 1350 px (4:5) is the safe default. Use 1080 × 1440 px (3:4) if you post from the app and want posts to fill the profile grid.

What size are Instagram Stories and Reels?

1080 × 1920 px, a 9:16 vertical frame.

Why is my photo cropped in the grid?

The profile grid shows posts as 3:4 tiles, so 4:5 and square posts are trimmed at the sides in the grid. The post itself is not changed.

Can I add a background instead of cropping?

Yes. Choose Fit with margin and pick white, transparent or a custom color.

Is it free?

Yes, with no account, no watermark and no upload.
